Owen
Lee has lived in Zihuatanejo, Mexico longer than any other expatriate. After retiring from the world-famous diving team of Captain Jacques Yves Cousteau, he sailed into its beautiful bay and it was "Love at first Sight!" It was also the beginning of his illicit love affair with the most desireable piece of seaside real estate in the bay. In 1976 he created "Camp de Mar" - a summer Sea Camp, where students learned to practice Captain Cousteau's theories about living in harmony with nature in their daily lives. But his dream fell prey to greedy politicians and real estate speculators. In the process, he was picketed, jailed, shot at, "taken for a ride" and finally "deported" from the country - only to prevail at last!
The result is a 290 page book of his adventures and misadventures that is fresh, fast, funny and timely. A must-read for anyone contemplating traveling, working or living in Mexico.
